St. Michael’s Church, Killorglin will host an Ecumenical Service on Tuesday the 2nd December 2014 at 8pm.  This service is to mark the 16 days of action for the elimination of violence against women and children and will also commemorate all victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Edel Lawlor’s powerful collection of quotes from children living with domestic violence entitled 100 Whispers will be highlighted on the evening.  Killorglin Men’s Shed Choir will endeavour to make this service a memorable evening. Digital Parenting Workshop

Posted in Blog

As parents we want to protect our kids and advise them on what they need to look out for and what they should avoid doing.  However, when it comes to the digital world, most parents today find that advising on internet safety for kids is almost impossible because the kids know more about Instagram, Snapchat and smart phones than they do. These workshops are designed to help parents understand what to do. Our first workshop will help parents to learn how to block explicit adult content on PCs and your child’s mobile. It will take place on Wednesday 12th of November in the Milltown Chilcare Centre from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm. The fee is €10.00. To book your place on this workshop, please contact Liz at the Maine Valley Family Centre on 066 9767833 or 086 0580019. We hope to follow-up with the following workshops at a later date: Workshop 2 Learn about the apps your kids are using Workshop 3 How to reduce your child’s exposure to being cyber bullied Workshop 4 How to make your child’s mobile phone a safe device for a child to use If you are interested, please contact Liz at the Maine Valley Family Centre on 066 9767833 or 086 0580019.  ...
